Rocketdyne, a division of the Boeing Company, has been a San Fernando Valley institution for more than 50 years. It was one of the pioneers of American rocketry at the conclusion of World War II and grew to its current world leadership status through major roles in the American space program. Rocketdyne engines now power the Space Shuttle and Delta expandable launch vehicles, carrying both civilian and military spacecraft into orbit, as well as sustaining a human presence in space. Rocketdyne has also been a major contributor to the construction of the International Space Station, providing its electrical power system and lifting major elements to the orbiting outpost. Headquarters for the 3,000+ employees are at the corner of Victory and Canoga Avenues, where they have been located for more than four decades.
"We are proud to support the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra, says the company's community relations manager, Pamela Campeau. "Boeing-Rocketdyne recognizes the symphony as an organization providing the finest in orchestral music. It enriches the quality of life in the Valley and surrounding areas and provides a supportive environment wherein new and promising soloists and composers may create and perform."
Double Concerto of Support: The Clyde and Mary Lou Porter Foundation
The San Fernando Valley Symphony is pleased to acknowledge another generous contributor to the orchestra's 2005-2006 season, Clyde Porter. A major supporter of the performing arts in the San Fernando Valley, Mr. Porter has received more than 50 community service awards, including the prestigious Fernando Award. A recent project entailed converting a Masonic Lodge into the West Valley Playhouse, a now-thriving performing arts theater in Canoga Park. He is a Woodland Hills Rotary member and a past president of the Valley Cultural Center. "I enjoy doing something for others," says Porter, "improving their quality of life, leveraging what few talents I possess to make a difference." The orchestra is grateful to Mr. Porter for his continued, dedicated support.
Woodland Hills Rotary Club
The symphony is honored to have the Woodland Hills Rotary Club as its newest season sponsor. The symphony extends its gratitude to the Rotary members and President Tom Klarin for their generous contribution and personal support.
