About the San Fernando Valley
Symphony Orchestra
The San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra has been offering Southern
California audiences exceptional performances of classical master works as well
as new music compositions for 26 years. Led by founder-conductor James Domine,
the artistic ensemble provides a highly respected showcase for top-notch
instrumentalists, vocalists, composers, conductors and music educators. The
orchestra's host venue is the Pierce College Performing Arts Theatre in Woodland
Hills, where its yearly concert series features symphonic, operatic, and ballet repertoire.
Aside from providing the community with critically acclaimed
concerts, the symphony is featured in dramatic productions and Broadway
musicals. The dedicated musicians also work in collaboration with
community service organizations and local business establishments to produce and
stage community outreach programs designed for diverse audiences of all ages.
Building upon a strong season ticket subscription base and
sold-out performances, the orchestra's community support impresses civic and
corporate leadership alike. The orchestra is a grant recipient of the County of Los Angeles Music and Performing Arts
Commission, the City of Los Angeles, Rotary Club, Boeing, AOL-Time Warner,
corporate foundations, individual subscribers, and concert patrons. The
symphony is a member
of the American Symphony Orchestra League and the
Association of California Symphony Orchestras.
In 1993 the Orchestra Board acquired the corporate name "San Fernando Valley
Symphony", paving the way for future expansion of the concert series to other
locations and helping to establish a permanent regional professional orchestra.
